This is a replacement center console latch with the inner retainer piece for the 84-96 XJ Cherokee and 86-92 MJ Comanche full size console. This replaces the latch piece that commonly breaks on the center console. I also reinforced the back of the latch portion to make it much stronger than the fragile factory ones. It is 3D printed with PETG, which has greater strength and thermal resistance than other materials like PLA. This PETG wont melt or deform in your hot Jeep!
This is a replacement for the latch piece that commonly breaks, as well as the inner plastic retainer piece. It does NOT come with the screw or the metal spring, those will be reused from your existing latch.
INSTALLATION – remove the screw holding in the broken latch and retainer. Remove the metal spring and clip it onto the new latch and place the new retainer into the latch in the same orientation as the original. Screw the new assembled latch into the console lid hand tight with a hand screwdriver until snug. Back the screw off 1/4 turn to allow the latch to move freely. I now carry these in stock and they are shipped within 2 days of ordering. ***DISCLAIMER*** – These are printed in black PETG plastic. This plastic can start to get soft at temperatures of 190*F. Even in extreme environments this shouldn’t be an issue. PETG parts have been used in vehicles for long periods of time without Ill effects, unlike materials such as PLA that can melt and sag in a hot car. – This is a 3D printed part, this means not all parts will appear or fit exactly the same. If you have an issue with your part, please contact me and we can work out the issue together. – Shipping damage must be reported within 3 days of receiving the item. After this time a return/refund will not be accepted nor will a replacement part be sent out due to shipping damage. |
