84-96 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Tail Light Adapter Kit for Jeep Wrangler (JK) Tail Lights

$100.00

SKU: 1013.200 Categories: ,

Tail light adapters to fit 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK tail lights in the 1984-1996 Jeep Cherokee.  This will fit any aftermarket or factory JK tail light as long as the light uses that outer trim piece (I haven’t seen any that don’t have that).  They fit nicely in the truck and offer an affordable alternative to replacing your broken tail lights or just a different style to your Jeep.  They only just barely stick out past the fender of the Jeep.   This is the adapter kit only, lights not included!

These are 3D printed in black PETG, which has great UV and environmental resistance.  These can be installed as is or you can do a light sanding and finish them with some filler primer and paint.  These are a printed in two pieces and lock together to make the adapter as seen in the pictures.

Please be aware that these are designed to fit snuggly to the body of the Jeep.  They have the same outer dimensions as the factory lights otherwise.  Depending on how your lift gate is adjusted will determine how the gap is around the gate.  If you have to do any adjusting on the adapters to get your desired fit, use a foam block sander and sandpaper and sand by hand to do any fitting, DO NOT use any powered sander or Dremel as they will take material off way too quickly.

This kit includes adapters for both sides of the truck and 8 screws for mounting the lights to the adapters.  You will need to reuse your factory taillight bolts to hold the adapters to the Jeep.

Optionally you can add gaskets to your order to seal up your Jeep.  The factory taillights have a built in gasket, these adapters do not have a gasket on them so I offer a separate gasket with an adhesive back to seal the Jeep back up.  It is highly recommended you get these as you will have large holes into the cabin allowing dirt, mud, exhaust fumes, bugs, excessive road noise, ect. inside the cab if those holes aren’t sealed back up.  The gaskets are hand cut and just stick on covering the large holes.  You can poke your wiring through the gasket when wiring up the lights.  Its recommended to poke a hole just large enough for the wires to pass through, don’t poke a large hole for the plugs to go through as that defeats the point of the gaskets.

INSTALLATION:

1.  Clip the two pieces of each adapter together.  They are labeled for which side they go on.

2.  Test fit the adapter, do any sanding required around the outer edges to make them fit nicely in your truck.

3.  Remove the screws holding the outer trim piece on your JK lights if it is still attached.  On the back of the factory JK lights you will have to cut off the tabs that the harness plug attaches to.  They are too long and will contact the XJ body preventing installation.  Cut these off carefully with a Dremel or sharp side cutters to avoid damaging important parts of your light housing.

4.  Put the JK lights in the adapters and put 4 of the included screws into each light to attach them to the adapter.  Tighten until they are just snug, don’t overtighten them.  (USE A HAND SCREWDRIVER ONLY, NO POWER TOOLS!)

5.  Slot the bottom of the adapters on the mounting lug and install the 3 bolts in each adapter to fasten it to the Jeep.  Again use a hand ratchet here and don’t overtighten.

6.  Remove them to adapt/splice your wiring, and do any finishing work you would like to do.  If you ordered the optional gaskets, determine the top of the gasket and peal the backing off, stick them to the Jeep.

***DISCLAIMER***

– These are printed in black PETG plastic.  This plastic can start to get soft at temperatures of 190*F.  Even in extreme environments this shouldn’t be an issue.  PETG parts have been used on vehicles for long periods of time without Ill effects.

– This is a 3D printed part, this means not all parts will appear or fit exactly the same.  It is set to print as fast as possible due to the long print times and I’m trying to keep prices low, this results in a slightly lower resolution print however I will never send a part out that doesn’t look good or function properly.  I do not accept returns due to it being made to order, however If you have an issue with your part, please contact me and we can work out the issue together.

– If you break it due to not following instructions, over-tightening screws, or through use, you can fix it with some super glue or you can message me to purchase a replacement part.

– This is a made to order part and takes over 60 hours to print if all goes well.  I print and ship as soon as possible but due to the long print time, please allow ample time for me to process and ship.

– Shipping damage must be reported within 3 days of receiving the item.  After this time a return/refund will not be accepted nor will a replacement part be sent out due to shipping damage.
